Finalists have been announced for an awards night celebrating the achievements of people and organisations going above and beyond to improve UK and international animal health and welfare.
The Ceva Animal Welfare Awards 2020 will recognise winners in 10 categories this year, with finalists chosen for their dedication and hard work in veterinary, farming and charity industries at home and abroad.
The awards categories and finalists are:
Chris Laurence Vet of the Year (sponsored by Veterinary Record)
Vet Nurse of the Year (sponsored by Agria Pet Insurance)
Charity Team of the Year (sponsored by PDSA)
Charitable Contribution of the Year (sponsored by Blue Cross)
Farmer of the Year (sponsored by the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution and Farmers Guardian)
Farm Educator of the Year (sponsored by the National Animal Disease Information Service and Farmers Guardian)
International Cat Care Welfare of the Year
International Cat Care will be choosing the winner of this award from its extensive membership base. The winner will be announced at the event.
The judges have also granted three awards in special recognition of an individual or team’s commitment to animal welfare.
Outstanding Contribution to Animal Welfare (sponsored by Your Dog Magazine and Your Cat Magazine) and Outstanding International Contribution to Animal Welfare (sponsored by Ceva International) will be announced on the night of the awards.
A Special Recognition award will also be presented during the evening.
Chris Laurence, who is chairing the judging panel, said: “The profile of animal welfare has increased in recent years, with the public becoming more aware of a broad range of issues.
“The judges were once again impressed by the level of commitment to animal welfare shown by the nominations for all the awards. So many people dedicate their lives and leisure time to helping to improve the lives of animals in a huge variety of ways.
“Consequently, choosing the finalists, let alone a winner, in each category is a daunting task the judging panel tackles with enthusiasm.”
The winners will be revealed and presented with awards during a ceremony in Birmingham ahead of BSAVA Congress on 1 April.
