Five RVNs and five vets are in with a chance of scooping a prize at this year’s Animal Star Awards.
Laura-Jo Round has been nominated for the Veterinary Nurse of the Year award.
Ten veterinary professional have made it to the final of a national competition.
Laura-Jo Round, Rachel Bean, Ellie Tappenden, Rebecca Schofield and Paige Ratcliffe saw off stiff competition from more than 700 nominations from across the country for the Veterinary Nurse of the Year section of the Animal Star Awards.
The annual event recognises people doing great things for animals, as well as animals that do extraordinary things for people.
Ms Round, who has worked at Dogs Trust Manchester since it opened in October 2014 and is part of a team caring for around 100 dogs every day of the year, said: “I am absolutely delighted to be nominated and to have reached the final. I love what I do and it’s a real privilege to help care for all the dogs that come into the centre.
”To be part of their lives, making sure they are healthy while they wait for their special someone to fall in love with them and then seeing them head home, is wonderful.”
Up for the Vet of the Year award are James Greenwood, Rory Cowlam, Hannah Capon, Emma Goodman Milne and Simon Hayes.
All the winners will be announced at a ceremony on 3 November in Guildford.
