Record numbers for ECC Congress

Kevin Fong prepares to make his keynote speech at Vets Now's 2019 ECC Congress.

The organiser of the UK’s only emergency and critical care (ECC) congress has hailed the sellout event a huge success, with a record 800-plus visitors from across the globe attending.

The two-day ECC UK Congress 2019, which took place at a new venue of the Royal Armouries in Leeds, also launched a programme of emergency CPD from organiser Vets Now, based on feedback from previous delegates.

Inclusive agenda

The result was an even more inclusive agenda for vets and VNs, with 70 hours of CPD on offer and a new lecture stream with content specifically tailored to recent graduates.

Highlights this year included:

  • World-renowned consultant anaesthetist and professor in human medicine Kevin Fong as keynote speaker, talking about risk management: life, death and mistakes.
  • Leading emergency vet Ken Drobatz, professor of critical care at the University of Pennsylvania, who covered a year in review of the professions, and drilled into detail around altered mentation and dealing with respiratory distress.

Fresh content

ECC specialist and congress programme lead Dan Lewis said: “Our mission is to bring the world’s leading ECC experts together in one room to share our knowledge with vets and vet nurses, and I’m delighted to welcome record numbers of attendees to congress this year.

“We were excited to open congress 2019, and deliver fresh and inspiring content for our delegates.”

ECC Congress was established by Vets Now in 2004 to provide innovative training to the veterinary profession.

The 17th ECC UK Congress will be held on 5 and 6 November 2020 at the Royal Armouries in Leeds.
