Five vet students and an RVN receive £1,000 each for research projects, with one of them poised to receive an additional £1,000 for best presentation and runner-up £500.

Five veterinary students and one RVN have been awarded bursaries by MSD Animal Health towards their research projects.
The awards of £1,000 have been made under the MSD Animal Health Research Bursary Scheme, with one of the six to receive £1,000 for the best presentation and a runner-up receiving £500.
Four of the awards went to students from The University of Edinburgh Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies. They are:
The fifth vet student award went to Jack Rust from the University of Bristol for “A study of the effectiveness of a detergent-based California Milk Test (CMT)”.
The veterinary nurse research bursary went to Emily Gorman from The University of Edinburgh Hospital for Small Animals for her research in “Evaluating different methods of peripheral intravenous cannula fixation”.
Michelle Townley, veterinary advisor at MSD Animal Health, said: “We have been delighted by the consistently high level of applications we receive each year, and this year was no exception.
“The projects undertaken have covered a wide range of subjects – all of which bring new knowledge into the industry and help develop new skills for those undertaking them. We see this as playing a vital part of our investment in the veterinary community.”
