“As veterinary professionals, we all need reminding from time to time about how amazing we all are and how important it is that we are kind to themselves” – Katie Ford.

Katie writes ‘To an Amazing Vet’

A veterinary surgeon has written two books full of positive messages designed to lift spirits across the profession after a difficult year.

Vet, coach and speaker Katie Ford has written the books To an Amazing Vet and To an Amazing Vet Nurse, which are both full of uplifting messages and positive statements taken from her Instagram page.

Illustrations

Katie has more than 12,000 followers on the social media site and the books are an extension of that content, accompanied by a range of original illustrations.

The book is available to buy on Katie’s website and is selling for £9.99, with £1 from the sale of each book going to Vetlife.

Journey

Katie said: “I have been through my own journey with imposter syndrome, and from that I have learned a lot about the importance of positivity and how to be a more confident, happier person.

“I post a lot on Instagram and the posts are well received, so the books are an extension of that content and a nice reminder. They’re only a short read, but impactful nonetheless.”

Happiness

Since the books went on sale, Katie has sold more than 250 and raised £250 for Vetlife in the process.

But this project is not about fund-raising – For Katie it is about making a positive impact on other people’s lives and spreading a little happiness across the profession.

Positive

Katie added: “As veterinary professionals, we all need reminding from time to time about how amazing we all are and how important it is that we are kind to themselves – especially after the year we have all been through.

“If through this book we can spread that positive message and raise some money for Vetlife at the same time then I could not ask for more.”

Vetlife

Vetlife provides independent, confidential and free help for everyone in the veterinary community, including veterinary nurses and students.

The charity provides a 24/7 telephone and email helpline, professional mental health support, financial assistance, information and resources.
