Improve International has partnered with the University of Cambridge Department of Veterinary Medicine to bring the latest evidence-based knowledge from the university’s specialists to vets and vet nurses through the new Improve International Veterinary Academy Series.

The Veterinary Academy Series comprises five month-long semesters, each of which focuses on a different clinical topic.

Each semester will consist of a series of engaging video-style recorded lectures, discussion forums, journal clubs, as well as the opportunity to access the university’s latest evidence-based research in these areas.

Clinical topics

Clinical topics covered include:

  • brachycephalic obstructive airway syndrome
  • canine and feline oncology
  • canine and feline cardiology
  • canine and feline neurology
  • equine oncology

Valuable skills

James Wood, head of the University of Cambridge Department of Veterinary Medicine, said: “We are delighted to be working with Improve International on this brand new CPD series.

“This new partnership will allow both veterinary nurses and surgeons to get the latest evidence-based knowledge directly from our top specialists. They will also learn to apply valuable skills in their everyday practice life and engage with others on Improve International’s global, interactive online platform.

“We are looking forward to the start of this unique academy series alongside Improve International.”

‘Groundbreaking’

Charlotte French – head of curriculum and quality, and operational head of UK, Nordics and US at Improve International – added: “We are thrilled to be working with the University of Cambridge Department of Veterinary Medicine as another innovative way to help the veterinary community take their careers to the next level.

“At Improve International, we look forward to offering veterinary nurses and surgeons worldwide the chance to explore groundbreaking work, and help advance animal welfare around the globe.”

Recognised quality

Mike Herrtage, trustee of the University of Cambridge Veterinary School Trust and former dean of Cambridge Veterinary School, said: “The new joint agreement brings together Improve International, with its outstanding record of high-quality and innovative CPD provision, and the staff of the Department of Veterinary Medicine with their excellent specialist clinical knowledge and experience, as well as their recognised quality in small group teaching to stage the Improve International academy series.

“This will provide a new milestone in CPD course delivery.”
